Our Hartman Ancestry

On 30 Aug 1770, Tobias Hartmann landed at Philadelphia on the Ship "Crawford".  Tobias may be the Tobias Hartmann who emigrated from the Zeller Tal region of Germany in County Donnersberg, in the Rheinland-Pfalz of Germany in 1770.  After arriving in Pennsylvania he eventually settled in York County, Pennsylvania after a short time in Lancaster County, where many of his progeny may be found today.  Others of his descendants went west settling in Clark County, Ohio; Sangamon County, Illinois; Reno County, Kansas; Oklahoma and California.  We have over 18,000 descendants of this family in our database.  All paternal descendants use Hartman as their spelling.
